"Beautiful Oops" to start the new school year

A new amazing, artistic school year just started! I am so excited for having a new art room and  the students are enjoining the big spacious classroom as well. I know that this year again my talented students as always will create projects that are meaningful and artworks they can be proud of!

We started out with this empowering and inspirational book "Beautiful Oops!". When you THINK you have made a mistake (and what kid or grown-up hasn't) Think of it as an opportunity to make something beautiful.  "A life lesson that all parents want their children to learn: It's OK to make a mistake. In fact, hooray for mistakes! A mistake is an adventure in creativity, a portal of discovery. A spill doesn't ruin a drawing, not when it becomes the shape of a goofy animal. And an accidental tear in your paper? Don't be upset about it when you can turn it into the roaring mouth of an alligator."

Every student received a paper with a tear, smudge, coffee spill, paint drip and many other "mistakes" I prepared for them before class. They were challenged to turn those mistakes into an artwork. I was amazed by their creativity and problem solving skills. Just look at their creative solutions:
